FICS Upgrades
Not much to report here right now...
But, in case you've somehow managed to miss these:
Messages are now are shown in your current tzone setting. So, now you no longer have to sit there
& actually think about when the message was sent. Additionally, if you view another player's
messages they too are shown in your tzone. Note: if you If you use a tzone that shows up as
??? the times of some old messages may be incorrect.
Personally, I think this one is a handy little feature:
You are now informed how many messages you have that are unread.
Unread simply means that you've
not viewed/cleared that message or those received after it.
Basically, you'll see a message
on login similar to this one:
You have 103 messages (37 unread).
You can view all unread
messages by using mess u
To mail all unread messages, use mailmess u
Finally, Journal slots are now indexed by numbers rather than the old system of letters. This is so
that those folks who were begging for more than 26 slots could get their way! ;)
The slot numbers are newly prefixed by a %. So, for example, to view the second slot for DrDeath you
would use: spos DrDeath %2 Just a note for those of you resistent to too much change:
Accessing the slots using the old method (spos DrDeath B) will still work just fine. ;)
Remember that all important server changes are listed in help new_features and can also often
be found in news items.
